Q: What areas of law do you focus on?

I focus mostly on bankruptcy and insolvency issues. Because I focus mainly on bankruptcy issues, most of my work tends to relate to commercial disputes and Uniform Commercial Code issues.

Q: Can you share a little about your experience in business law?

I have 25 years of experience in general commercial law, particularly working in large transactions in Chicago. I have an MBA in finance that has been helpful while working in large transactions. I also have experience in loan restructurings, loan workouts, and secured lending. I have litigated in state and federal courts on issues ranging from business contract disputes to more complex multi-state litigation.

Q: Can you share more about your experience with bankruptcy law?

For a while I was working mostly in large transactions and focused a majority of my time on the financial aspect of things. While working on large transactions I would often collaborate with bankruptcy attorneys, and I found what they did very interesting. Eventually I felt that bankruptcy law was more interesting to me than what I was doing in transactions and slowly I morphed my work into being bankruptcy focused. I enjoy that bankruptcy law requires me to be a good litigator and a good business attorney, and in this area of practice I find that I can be a more generalized attorney, which I enjoy.

Q: What are you most looking forward to now that you have moved from an Illinois based practice to Fausone & Grysko?

I think I am most looking forward to becoming more of a true Michigander and expanding my knowledge of Michigan law. I am also looking forward to getting to know the local area and people more.
